After the catastrophe in Japan the discusssinon about renewable energies arised again. Politicians promised the use of more renewable energies. Even though this did not happen for environmental reasons, but for  better publicity at some point they will have to push through the use of renewables as a primary source, because more and more people demand that. And they want to be voted.
Still it will be hard, because other energy companies (very well known ones) will fight against it, because they cannot make as much profit out of renewables. just the same happens with cars and trains, planes and ships; they sure COULD already use environmet friendly energies if not the fuel industry would fight against that.

    Hi!
I agree with Tashina that the best option is reducing the energy consumption. This is the truth that some of the renewable energies technologies destroy the nature, but there exist some which do almoust no harm I guess, for example the wave energy technologies.

    Hey guys, check out www.aycc.org.au
We're young people battling yo get political will for renewable energy in Australia. We've started our own campaign to start repowering australia to 100% renewable energy. However we're finding that it is hard to convince some people towards the benefits of renewable energy for our ennvironment because our country's enconomy relies heavily on fossil fuel. When money comes into game, it makes it a whole harder to get people to care for our environment. With the AYCC we've realised we'll never have enough money to battle with some of the biggest fuel industries, so we need a new currency. We need passion, enthusiasm, creativity and we need youth (because we're tomorrow's buyers). Check out the climate coalition in your country and see what they're doing about 100% renewable energy! You never know they might have a campaign going on that needs your help or maybe you could even start your own campaign.
I agree that some renewable energy could harm the environment but between fossil fuel and oil. I prefer the renewable energy and it is possible for a country to be entirely fed by it. Check out the Carbon Zero project that shows how.

    Hi!
I totally agree with you when you say we need renewable energy but you also have to take in mind that if this renwable energy is destorying whole ecosystems either becuase it requires more space or becuase it requires more resources, then is it really worth it? But I agree, that if we can not find renewable sources of energy, then eventually we will have a huge problem with polution.

Agree with Tashina and Theresa. Well, basically a lot more research needs to be done concerning this matter. To attain a sustainable development in environmentally friendly energy is not easy. Other than that, I just don't think there's any way we can completely say no to energy resource such as 'petroleum' at the moment, as our lives are very much depending on it. We're just not there yet...Nevertheless, it is possible. And good effort by the way. Yeah, we just have to keep on pushing the society, politicians, and all the capitalists to bring and be the changes we wanna see!

    Hey!
I also think that renewable energies are very important for the futute, but like Theresa said, sometimes they destroy nature as well. So I think the best thing is to consume less energy!!! If everybody would do this we wouldn't need nuclear power stations. And then you can produce your main power with solar etc. without hurting the environment.
