This is the question about human stupidity.

I won't be writing today of anything like climate change, environment and my regular stuff that I write about here. I've been thinking recently and I've been worried in the past years about something else but it seems like it is just happening too fast and I'm completely puzzled about it. There's no answer I can come to, no matter how hard I try.

This is the question about human stupidity. I know, I know it's infinite... Einstein was a lucky when he said that, I bet he hadn't had to deal with so many blockheaded people in his time.

I don't go to school any more and even when I went I heard of awful things happening between classmates... I've heard about their weird attitude and their abominable behaviour but never had the chance to witness it. It seems like my class was all right (in our schools you only have 25 people you study with, you call  them a class and spend your five-year highschool with them) and we never had any major problems like breaking furniture, beating teachers, beating eatch other, being on drugs and using drugs at school... I only remember a joint once.. it seems as if like these stuff are part of a student's everyday's life... I have friends who still go to school and they're just appalled by the behaviour of their classmates.. the only thing the rest of the class talks about is sex and drugs and how much weight a girl can use when being on amphetamines...none of them studies or even opens a book. They have the mall right?... what is wrong with them? Is it me or this world's really gone mad? And this is supposed to be the young generation that has to deal with the problems of our community!

So obvserving some of them while I'm on the street or infront ot the schools I see nothing else  but what my friends tell me. Universities and highschools have reduced their evaluation requirements to a point where anyone gets in! This is insane.. On the other hand actually if they don't do this, teenagers would never get the chance to study  because their mental ability seems to be dropping sharply annually.. I wonder where's the spring of this enourmous river of flowing problems? Aren't families raising up their kids or just let the time pass by without moving a finger about their child's behaviour... about their child's future. Are they that occupied with work, 24/7, all the holidays.. to not have a chance to look at that kid and say "Hey, is this going to be a human being or what?" I know it's hard to catch up with time these days, it seems like the world is just spinning too fast for us to move simultaneously, but you made a choice to bring up a person to this world and you have to take care of it. Schools are just out of the way.. I don't even think they can make something out of you when you're troubled.. especially schools here have no power on you.

I hate the world taking the bad for good. Have you notices how everything changes in a way where the old ugly things become fashionable today.. it's not just the wrong behaviour, I've seem examples in post-modern architecture, paintings.. anything! Someone would disagree and would say that it is different and that's what makes our world advance but hey, I'm not against development...it's just I feel this process poisons humans' minds and we're so used to it today... we not only don't bother, we even praise it..  I think I have a problem with the century.. :)
I wrote this hoping you could shine a litle light on the issue about the wrecked school system and the lazy teenagers. Is it just Bulgaria or it's an interntaional matter?

This is one of the best blog comments I've ever read. And guess what. This happens in Argentina too. During my last year of school I felt completely disconnected with most of my class. I felt I was different and that I didn't really fit in in the group, thou I had a lot of friends, but inside of me I knew we were looking for different things. I live in Buenos Aires in an area full of country clubs (gated communities) and private schools, so many people here care more about their cloth that about what happens with the environment. I think the problem is that they were raced completely disconnected with the world that surrounds them. They don't understand all the good things about nature, unless we are talking about a beach with techno music, bikini girls and a pub. We live in a society were economic success is considered to be a success in life. I completely disagree. Some people live in a prison, making all their decisions thinking on what they are supposed to do, and they never really ask them selves what would happen if they go the other way.I think real freedom is to go and fight for what you want and love, without letting all your fears stop you. Here in Argentina people seem to have lost hope on everything, they have surrender to the idea that they cant change their faith, so they lives their life's without dreams and inspiration.
I nice to reading about people like you after dealing everyday with this everyday.

I believe that the problem starts in the childhood, when parents do not have time to spend with their children and learn them about life and important values. Parents instead of playing together with their children they prefer to let them play a stupid computer games. And the problem developes when children go to school and they try to be the same as their peers and they simply do not bother about school stuff, they do not have long-terms plans for the future. This is my point of view.
And as Paweł wrote, the problem appears also here, in Poland but I think that in the other countries the situation is even worse. Because here sometimes is a pressure from the society to become someone important and have a good job, therefore here is a group of people who really care about school.

I perfectly understand what you mean , I'm still at high school though ;) The thing I want to say is that our society is getting more and more stupid. The number of people without any ambitions is increasing every year! The most important things to young people seem to be computers, television, fashion and sex. There are sooo many people not willing to learn anything who believe they know everything better and will get a job without any problems. They are so wrong but it isn't actually their fault only. Other people to be blamed are their parents, friends and all those people being a kind of 'rolemodels' for them. Just look what kind of people are called 'stars' these days- it's sad but in Poland the most recognizable people are those who participated in stupid reality shows where they didn't show much of their intelligence.
I had this luck that in my school majority of teenagers are really cool. Being cool in fact is very subjective but what I mean is that they know how to have fun but also know when to stop, they also think about their future and therefore, spend time on studying too ;)
It's not a problem of Bulgaria or Poland only. It's the problem of the whole humanity! Maybe one of the solutions would be to start educating young children about the REAL VALUES instead of showing them stupid cartoons on TV. Just watch what kind of movies younfg children watch0 all of them are full of violence and swear words. When I was younger, children used to watch Disney movies which had a universal, positive message and taught children that being good is always better than being evil. I wish those times could come back, the times when parents used to put a lot of effort in bringing their children up...
