My wise brother once told me a joke, which he thought was pretty hilarious...yeah. He said, how can you tell who man's best friend truly is? Well, he continued, lock your wife and your dog in your car's trunk for three days. When you open the door, look who'll be happy to see you!!
I thought about that today as I sat in the garden. I was so tired and just sat enjoying the warm winter sun. Everything was quite peaceful until my two Jack Russels came bounding up towards me and started running around me. Soon I was on my back, being harrassed by two squirming bundles of brown and white! After getting them off of me, they started attacking my shoes...my pretty shoes!! So I took 'em off and they immediatly focussed their attention on the old pair of jeans I was wearing, entertaining themselves, while I laid on the flat of my back, looking up at the sun shining through the leaves.
I realized that they were so happy, playing with my jean of all things!! When they got bored they ran off, chasing butterflies, running back to me, running over me...giving me the best puppy-eyes ever until I would pet them. They were so happy sitting there, not caring about anything other than being aware of my presence. All they need is love, a cliché so fitting.
Then I thought of the millions of puppies, like mine, who are without foos or shelter or water or love. And, then I thought of the millions that love their own pets like family. Do you? Would you leave your mum on the street to fend for herself? Would you kick your grandpa? Would let you sister starve? Or would you do everything you could to help them? Well, I found a wonderful website, that doesn't ask much. ONE CLICK OF A MOUSE. Yep, that's it. And you'll help a cat or a dog or a rabbit or a bird survive. If you want to go a step further, adopt a pet. Don't buy a new puppy if there are sooo many already in need of good homes!! And pepole please, sterilize your pets! Do the responsible thing!

Pawel wrote 1014 Days Ago (neutral) 0I understand what you mean very well :) A couple of days ago my dog (poodle) ran away because I guess he 'fell in love' with a dachshund. I was soooo scared that I will lose him that I was running around my district for a couple of minutes until I finally managed to find him. In a couple of minutes I realised how much he means for me :) I don't understand people who may beat their pets or let them starve.
In Poland there was a huge affair because in a small village there was a woman who kept lots of dogs in a small barn or something like that where she could feed them up so that they would be fat. Then, she killed each of them and produced grease from their fat in order to sell it in bottles or jars for 50 zlotys (about 17 dollars). All of the neighbour knew about that! How was that possible to happen? How cruel can people be to do such things or not react for animals suffering?0 points
