MY SOUVENIRS AND A LESSON AFTER MORE THAN 4 YEARS OF EXPEDITIONS AND EXPLORING NATURE

At this moment , i'm sitting in my room,in front of my latop while the sound of millions of motorbikes roaming outside.Saigon, my hometown is the biggest city of Vietnam, the most famous city in the world in the 60'-70's decade, the decades of Vietnam war. There's a feeling inside me,a feeling like a strong fire burning me,like a thousand of calls whispering to me,an extrodinary desire! And i know what it is,it's the call of the wild, the call of incredible memories !I still remember a day when i was a 10 years old kid,i watched the first adventure movie in my life:"Anaconda"!Unproudly,i have to admit that it scared me shit out of my paint(oops!) but after that,i told myself:One day,i'll have adventures like that!

Then time gone by and i hadn't got a chance to do my dream yet, just a normal nasty fat ass boy living in a boring nasty world until 1 day i had a heart attack in 2005(my heart was very sick when i was born, then i had an operation in France).Fortunately,i survived that incident than i realized 1 thing:Life is too damn short not to be crazy and adventurous! You can keep your sorry ass safely in a boring city life but then you know nothing about this big world except the little world you proudly call "civilization"!So i started climbing mountains, the first mountain is a local mountain just about 500+meters in the countryside,it was a hell climbing!I was so damn tired! But then i kept climbing,it took me 3 years to climb all of the local mountains in the countryside of Vietnam and some local mountains in Europe. One day,i was fed up with the local mountains, these mountains just take me 1 day climb. So i decided to have long term(5 days minimum) jungle expeditions deep into the nasty jungles of Vietnam, the nightmares of American forces in Vietnam war! From that time,i've faced a danger incredible world, there are a lot of "cute little" things welcome me everywhere:blood sucking jungle leeches, poisoned snakes, mousquitos with malaria virus inside them,crocodiles,bears...I had a lot of incredible souvenirs in these trips and i can't remember them all because i had a lot of expeditions!

Like in my trip to Cat Tien national park, the biggest one in the South of Vietnam. That was September 2007(the rainy season in Vietnam),the park is often flooding in rainy season and that time wasn't an exception. When i arrived,it was water everywhere and it reached almost half of my body(lucky bastard, heh)! So they told me that they don't accept visitors anymore until dry season but if i still want to go,they won't stop me!And i chose to keep going,i trekked more than 5 km through the jungle in water to a forest ranger station called "Crocodile's lake"(there is a big lake with crocodiles in this place),but the nightmare wasn't over yet! When i arrived the station,i found out that there are some crocodiles were swimming around the station(perfect!) so i couldn't get in and God must love me so they didn't attack me!Maybe they didn't see me or what the hell happened so finally,i got into the station. And to show me a warm welcome the rangers said:Are you fucking crazy, man? You must be a crazy bastard to come here in this season!Haha.About this incident, you can see it a little bit by my first profile photo.

Another time,i went on a 1 week jungle survival training in the Malaysian part of Borneo, the largest rainforest in Asia.I went with 2 local tribal guides, their ancestors were the famous head hunters of Borneo, and thank God that they didn't use me to remind themself their proudly ancient tradition!Tough guys!We even brought a gun.So in 1 night,1 of the guide told me his creepy story about a jungle ghost or god,who has a big head,2 big arms and no any leg! That was a no moon night, and in the jungle you can't even see your fingers in front of your face in the nights like that, and there's always a thousand kind of sound around you in the jungle's night so your imagination will work very good, especially about the things you're afraid of.So i felt quite creepy in my hammock and i tried to sleep.Suddenly,i heard some strange noises from the river close to us and the sound of somethings coming!Holy shit,is it real?I took my machete and ready to fight, then i saw someone coming to my hammock!I asked:Who the hell is that? Then i realized my guide's voice:It's me!I was pooping in the river !Haha
And another time i had to eat uncooked pork's meat in a tribal village because it's very impolite to deny!Ah yes,in last November i went with 2 guys from the British Royal Geographical Society for a recce trip, our nasty hotel in Hanoi got fire so we ended up sleeping on the street under the winter coldness of North Vietnam.Damn!Tough day!

There are no words to describe the feelings in this kind of journeys! You have to face them by yourself so can understand them:the coldness in the jungle's night that get into your bone even when you're wearing a very good jacket,or when your heart's beat is increasing very bloody fast and on your back is a 15+ kg backpack,in front you is a hill of wet muddy sharp limestones,or when you're going in a very muddy, slippy small trail in a heavy rain and in the right/left side is a valley, your foot just slip down so you'll be bye bye!Or when you're sweating like hell in the jungle's humid and blood-sucking fliers around biting you and make you so damn itchy!Last time i think i was suspect as infected by swine-flu because of those nasty red spots on me!

But time gone by and i realized a lesson: Being an explorer doesn't only mean a person that get in to the nature to find extreme experiences or beautiful photos, but also a protector of nature! You have to protect what you discovered!History's proved this thing:When you discover a new nice place, you tell the world then the world will turn it into a shitty place! So be a responsible explorer, don't tell the world, tell the people who really care to protect Nature! And take actions,be a volunteer, join the NGOs...Don't just come, see and leave a mess!Stay out there to protect! There are 2 kind of explorer:Bad and good, the bad one is the one who uses his discover for personal purposes and leave it for the world in a mess, the good one is the one who's responsible for his discover and try to protect it from the outside world!Be the good one!

Cheers up,fellows!
