I just want to express my anger and my sadness over an event that has the potential to destroy a whole ecosystem in my country. I don't think I'm exaggerating when saying ecosystem because this problem appears to be just the first one of a chain. I intentionally put a headline like this because this problem has universal meaning and the idea is that you can hardly find outland today.
There is this wonderful magnificent place in Rila mountain in Bulgaria called the Seven Rila Lakes. It used to be visited by keen hikers and mountaineers and it was a place of great significance for Peter Deunov's followers (people who wear white clothes, dance their way and worship nature, mountains and try to live in harmony and peace) because they held their rituals there. They still do, but a recent event made it worse.
Some months ago the consrvationalists fought a war against the government who announced that a chair lift is p
lanned to be built up there in the mountain. This holy place was in a great danger and we attended meetings and made strikes and protest demonstrations against this horrible idea. The plan was even claimed to be illegal because of the boundaries of the national park and the law of course. Well, coruption said it and now we have this horrible chair lift moving up and down the mountain carrying those lazy stupid people to the holy place and back... what's the point at all... The White people clean the mountain every year and this year it is just to much for them to bear.. it's crowded, poluted and noisy.. I remember Garret's project and the importance of the silent places.. :(
It was the same place we went on our last long hiking trip and we barely saw people there.. It was an year ago and the chair lift was still being built. All the people we met were wonderful and hospitable people of the mountains and now every single city sniveller is there "enjoying" the holyness and the magic of the place. People who reside in Rila say that it is now a kind of fashion to visit the Lakes... How could this be fashionable? What is more, all the trash they carry is left there.
This chair lift is part of a whole ski resort improvement project and some more shit of this kind would be built no matter how legal or not that appears to be! I hope this new government would seriously take measures or I bet someone's going to pay high price for this! it really sucks to live in community like that.. How could they still keep destroying it.. It is one of the most beautiful places in our country! ;( I really feel angry now and I will stop writing because tons of shit would come out from my mouth and I will regret it later.. :(

They can destroy all the beautiful places if they can get money from them. I think that they believe that these lakes are really beautiful but they don't want to protect them - they want show them to more and more people. I know that it's a holy place for Peter Deunov followers but on the other hand more people will admire these beautiful views. And now when the government has built this chair lift they should do everything what they can to protect this place!
Actually, I'm against destroying beautiful places by tourism but I'm looking for the bright sides of this situation.
What is also sad is the fact that things like that happened in whole countries in the world...0 pointsPawel wrote 1001 Days Ago (neutral) 0I agree with both of you. It's terrible how easily people may destroy beutiful places in the world! Isn't it more satisfying and better for our health to reach such beautiful places on foot? I'm afraid the situation you have described in your blog is going to become common. People are getting more and more lazy because f their seditary lifestyle and because of that special lifts will be built in such unique places. It's sad but unfortunately true...0 pointssimi wrote 1001 Days Ago (neutral) 0when i see this beautifull places it makes me sad to see that they just don't care about the nature. just about tourism tourism money tourism. always tourism. when people want to get there. they can walk there.- soooooooooooooooo lazy1 point
