Hey all YEP's! Together with other 6 Young Explorers we are now in Serbia to work in Geberit Pangaea Kraljevo School Project. It feels so good to be there! We've already started the work here, we were in the schools and one of them is in very bad condition, even if the schools starts in few days they are not prepare for that. But they arranged painting the building by themselves so we are not able to help them in that. That is why, we have decided that we will concentrate on spreading the message about protecting the environment. We've already prepared some posters with the children to inform the whole school what they can to for the nature. We will also have some clean ups, presentations about Pangaea and we will take the children for a trip to adore with them a beauty of Serbia's nature.
The atmosphere here in Serbia is amazing, even though people barely speak english they are so friendly and hospitable! They are doing their best to make our stay the best as it can be. People are very eager to meet with us and get to know about what we are doing. It is so nice feeling that we arrived here few days ago and we're already famous. :D But this is probably because of the fact that there are not a lot of tourists in Kraljevo so they are very glad that someone is visitng them. And I guess that this is very typical for Serbs people to be that kind. They have their special welcoming snack - slatko - fruits in very sweet jam given with the glass of water. They give it every time when someone is coming to their house. And we get it every time when we visit someone. It is very nice of them!! When we were invited to the house of the President of the local Ecological Movement and we were very nicely welcomed! We got a chance to try Serbian cuisine. And we also played their national sport - tennis! We were trying to play it and pretend that we are Djokovic but without any good results. (;
The time here is flying so fast, we have a lot to do and people here would like to organize us even more activities for which we are very grateful! More news soon!
And I would also like to say congratulations! to all new selected YEPers and good luck with the preparations!
Greetings from Serbia!!
