Ecological problems of Ukraine
1157 days ago 5 comments Categories: ALL Tags: ecology

Hello! I’m going to tell you about our ecological situation in Ukraine.
Ukraine is suffering a lot of environmental problems. Many of them have been caused by economic activities. There are many consequences of damaging environment. One of them is the water pollution. The Dnipro and others rivers are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial waste, all kinds of chemical elements and pesticides. Industrial enterprises of large cities waste harmful substances into river and sea’s waters. The emissions destroy fishing industry and lead to damage of wildlife.
Another problem is the air pollution. For example, pumping waste gases from a power station or metallurgical plants do not get rid of them. The waste gases cause acid rains.
The next ecological problem is the problem of the Azov Sea. The Azov Sea is the special case. Because it is such a small sea, it becomes dirty very easily. Many industrial centres such as Mariupol, Berdyansk pour into the sea all kinds of chemicals. It naturally influences the state of the sea water and the shore line flora and fauna.
But the most terrible ecological problem of Ukraine is Chernobyl. The effect of Chernobyl disaster is dangerous and tragic, because we don’t know up to the end all the consequences of radioactive contamination.
As you see my country has many ecological problems and our authority dont wanna decide them! I’m student of geographical faculty and I think it’s my duty - to do all that I can do for their decision!!!

The Chernobyl accident was a real proof to the fact that state boundaries can't exist when we talk about preserving the environment - the radioactive cloud caused by the explosion spread across Europe (Bulgaria was also one of the many countries to suffer from it) and caused a lot of diseases. I think that each country should think twice before making any decision - sometimes we talk more about state policy... we talk about world policy.
I really hope the situation will improve in Ukraine, as well as in other countries. Unfortunately, I think changes can be mostly achieved by means of politics but I hope scientists and experts will be persuasive enough to make state governments really grasp the idea of taking care of the planet.
Good luck on your mission, Nati!
