news on everything green :)
I got a high five. In the face. With a chair. Life decided to give me a hard time.
For those of you who don't know, I have been chosen to participate in the Amazon selection camp!!
The idea was to go on the camp while starting to study Drama. I was planning to skip one week of class and come back and work really hard to catch up. This picture, however, changed dramatically. I received an email from the Drama Department at the university, telling me that they will not allow me to attend the selection camp. I would miss too much work, especially practical stuff that I can't catch up on. My heart started pounding as I stared at my computer in disbelief. So now I have to choose between Pangaea and studying? Honestly, I never thought this day would come. But it did.
So I was torn between two worlds, not knowing which side to choose. Would I be able to forgive myself if I dropped out of the selection camp? Taking a gap year presents a challenge as well: Where will I stay? What will I do on such short notice?
So right now my future is as stable as an elephant balancing on the top of a needle. My Dad consoled me with some wise words: "When a door slams shut in your face, don't try to kick it open. Other doors will open where that one closed up." So I won't fret too much about what happened. I will simply choose the best option I have, and continue my life happily. If my life gets thrown into a completely different direction, then so be it. I am ready for this adventure!
One thing I knew from the moment that I read that email, was that Pangaea has made such a big impact on my life. I cannot bear the thought of giving up the chance that I have been offered! I have decided to take a gap year (more like a YEP year... but that's a whole new story) and commence my studies at a later stage.
So hopefully the future holds a promising time for me, but untill then, I might as well enjoy the rollercoaster ride! I am thankful for the lemons that Life has given me. I can now make lemonade from it and share it with the whole world!
Here's to Life, it's adventures and a wonderful community that we are a part of!
Cheers!
Lani

You make a good decision. I'm glad that I can meet here so many determined people!
I would make the same decision as you.
So take care and don't regret your choice!
Greetings,
Monika2 pointsKaiz wrote 120 Days Ago (neutral) 0I had the same problem with my school...they said that I'd probably have to repeat grade 11, but I didn't let that happen. Lani, go to the Selection Camp. This is just the start of varsity and you can always go back next year. PANGAEA will give you far more opportunities than you'll ever believe! Don't try and fit into the norm :)1 pointLani wrote 121 Days Ago (positive) 1you're coming too?? Awesome! I can't wait to meet everyone! :)0 pointsLeo_ wrote 121 Days Ago (neutral) 0Hey Lani!
