Hey everyone!!

I met and joined some Cape Town Yepers (Kai and Robs) at Muzenberg Beach... Together we and a few friends spent a few hours picking up several bag loads of rubbish.

I was amazing to finally meet some Cape Town Yepers who already had been on the selection camps/ expiditions... You guys are such a positive inspiration to me! :) thank you for counting me in!!

Okay, back to business... We picked up soo much rubbish in such a small area which was shocking!! Is it really that hard to walk the few extra meters to throw your rubbish in the bin? There was some pretty nasty stuff on the beach!! Its already bad that you are littering, do you really need to add nappies, smashed beer bottles, condoms, body bags (just kiddingSmile)- they were just seriously huge bags... O and how could I forget the thousands of straws that we picked up? Are straws really necessary?

Hope to see the Yepers again to plan some more projects! Hope we can clean up Marina da Gama/Sandvlei as our next project!

Keep well!! MegzSmile

Great acts and I feel the same as you: I dont live near the beach, but every time I go there it feels like people dont stop with their waste. We have a daily cleaup service here in Spain but still I think people should really make an effort to through their own thing in the bin - I mean, its only a few meters like you say, it wont kill anybody while it could prevent loads of damage to the earth and all the ecosystems near and in the sea.
if everyone took care of their own rubbish, disposed of it safely (preferably recycling it) and above all reudced their rubbish production the difference made would be enormous!! Therefore, keep active and advise people, spread the word!! :)

Enjoy your proximity to the beach- its a fantastical natural resource!
