Yesterday, two landmarks of Cape Town came down, the 2 cooling towers of the old power station. There was a delay in the demolition of the towers as the roosting Peregrine Hawks had to be relocated before anything could happen. This was done successfully. The whole of Cape Town gathered and at 12 the towers disappeared before our eyes in 10 seconds. It was amazing to watch. The good thing is that the rubble (2700 tons) is going to be recycled and made into bricks for environmentaly friendly builings.
