HELLO

My name is Thủy Anh (Thuy Anh) or you can call me Nini. I’m a student from Hanoi Foreign Trade University. I was born on 6 October, which results in my characteristics typical of Libra - the seventh astrological sign in the Zodiac such as:

- Pacifist, fair and sentimental.

- Sociable and light-hearted.

- Rational and capable of seeing all sides of a problem.

- Driven to achieve.

- See women as the equal of men in every respect.

- Artistic, skillfull and have esthetic sense ( I’m good at drawing and designing; fond of dancing and able to dance bachata, hip hop high heels, salsa … ; interested in instruments and able to play piano and harmonica … )

As a youngster, I’m adventurous and keen to explore. I love travelling and backpacking. I love the fantastic feelings of extreme sports such as jet-skiing and parachuting. To be well-qualified for these hobbies, I regularly practice hiking and swimming.

I always wanna contribute to make the world a better place. Regarding the environmental projects that I’ve been involved, I’m currently the tree plantation team leader of GGIO@Vietnam’s COC project. (GGIO is the abbreviation of Go Green International Organization and GGIO@Vietnam is one of the new active members of GGIO global http://gogreeninternational.net/contact.php)

COC project is a carbondioxide offsetting companies project which aims to engage the corporate sector in environmental protection and their social responsibilities to environment. Everyday actions – like driving a car, flying and even using our computers – produce emissions of carbondioxide, which contribute to climate change. Within COC project, we persuade the corporate sector to take significant part in building a sustainable world through their practice of carbondioxide offsetting. To be more specific, we calculate the emissions from their staff’s trasportation on daily basis, then the emissions will be converted into monetary value and the corporate sector can compensate for their emissions by funding GGIO@ Vietnam’s tree plantation project and green education program in the primary schools in Vietnam. The new trees will contribute to natural air conditioning and fresh water supply, as well as lessening the impacts of natural disasters on the local residents’ lives besides environmental protection effect. Moreover, the green education program will raise the knowledge of students about climate change and sustainable living.

As the tree plantation team leader, I take charge of  supervising the progress of the tree plantation project, then checking before acceptance with the assistance of my team members. Besides, I'm also responsible for planning and carrying out the green education program together with COC project's members, working with sponsors and technical advisers to ensure COC running smoothly.

Apart from COC project, I participated in the training day named “Grounding our future,” which is a part of “Grounding our future” project supported by SCI Italy, KMGNE Germany, SCI India, SVI Mauritius and VPV Vietnam (http://www.facebook.com/groundingourfuture) in August 2011 . The main objective of this international project is to enhance youth capacity to promote volunteering as a tool to endorse sustainable lifestyle and to contrast global warming, enriched by the exchange with people living in other areas of the world and similarly dealing with global issues and specifically with the Climate Change challenges.
