My name is Ally!

I am 16 years old. I was born in Mexico, and live in Canada!

In the summers I like to play soccer, sail, surf, kayak, swim, white water raft, hike, bike, and EXPLORE! I have spent most of my childhood in a backcountry park. I love nature!

In the winters I ski, snowboard, snowshoe, and play basketball.

I received the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award last spring, and I have just completed the Silver criteria for the achievement based award.

Last December I volunteered at an orphanage in Northern India on the Nepal border. I spent time cooking, cleaning, and tutoring for teenage girls. Prior to going to the Good Shepherd Agriculture Mission I collected 400 pairs of shoes for the kids at the orphanage. I also collected school supplies, clothes, and medical supplies. In fact I collected so much stuff that I had no room in my luggage for my own personal belongings. So I went on a month long trip to India with just the clothes on my back. When I came home I wanted to ACT so I started a project to raise funds for the orphanage. I make cards with the photos I took in India. When someone makes a donation over $20 through my webpage that is corresponding to the orphanage website, I mail them a set of my photo cards. I have raised over $2000 with this project so far. All of the money goes to buying Fresh Fruit and Vegetables for the children.

I am a Vegetarian, Humanitarian, and a Shameless Idealist.

I Believe through the power of Education and Mentorship programs, encouraging my generation to get involved in the world around us we can make a positive impact today for a healthier planet tomorrow.
