HELLO YOUNG EXPLORERS!
My name is Shaya and I’m Australian, Swiss and Spanish!
I currently live in Cairns, Australia (I’m saying currently because we have moved and travelled a lot with my family).
When I was 6 years old, my mum decided to take my sister and I backpacking in India to show us the Big Wide World. I remember one night on a small fishing boat I said to my mum “when I grow up, I’m going to be an explorer!”. My mum smiled and said “you can already be one”. This marked my love for travelling, nature and exploring. Through my young life people told me I couldn’t be an explorer because everything had already been explored. When I read Mike Horn’s books I realized you can be whatever you want to be!
I am a determined, motivated, bright young adult thirsty to learn more about the earth. Being part of this community is awesome! I would love to meet you young, bubbly, inspiring young explorers! (I have already met one and would love to meet more!)
Early mornings for me are spent training for triathlon but I also love sports like surfing! I also campaign with Greenpeace (armchair activist) and Survival (fighting for untouched tribes and their environments) and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition.
Even though I get straight A's at school, I'm not sure which career path to take yet. I just enjoy doing my best at everything I try. If by any chance you know a job that includes film-making, photography, travelling (lots of it!), public speaking, public relations, problem solving, a lot of hard intellectual and physical work, politics, writing and television work, making a difference, helping the envionment and leadership than I'd be very glad to hear your suggestion :D
Remember guys, in this issue we are not tomorrow's leaders.. we are today's!
Never let anyone put down your idealism or tell you something is impossible. Never let anyone put down your courage and hope because they are the characteristics that create change.
Smiles from Australia.
Lani wrote 29 Days Ago (positive) 1I'm doing the same thing :) I'm trying to figure out what I should be studying... So what are your options? You still want to do the rescue swimming, right? That would be awesome. And I would recommend a gap year!! Just make sure that you get money before it actually starts. Otherwise you end up like me having to say no to a trip across europe!
I'll have to see if I'll be able to sail a bit... it really depends on what time they are sailing! I still need to figure it all out.
Anyways, have an awesome day!!!!!!0 pointsLani wrote 29 Days Ago (positive) 1Hey :)
