Hi!! Welcome to my profile:).
I'm Nadine Schutte and I am 19 years old! And live in sunny South Africa's Limpopo province!!
*I AM: enthusiastic, loving, active, caring, fun, sociable, and a lover of life!
*DREAM: a world where humankind and nature and exist side by side with ought the one destroying the other! A world where all people are passionate about conserving our resources and taking care of mother earth!!
*GOAL: to do anything in my power to reach my dream.
*HOBBIES: Running, photography, hiking, exploring nature!! I am an ordinary young South African girl I love nature and get along well with all kind of people I absolutely love my country and believe that growing up in this wonderful country has shaped and formed me into the person I am today!!
*SPORTS: I love sports!!! My whole family is quit sporty, my mom is a long distance runner and has completed 4 comrades marathons (89km far!!). My dad plays golf and my sister bowls. Athletics is the main sport I do! I run the 100m and 200m sprints we train very hard 5 days a week! In my 5 years of high school I was chosen 3 years to participate in the annual South African schools athletics championships. Other sports I have participated in include: bowls, netball, tennis, horse riding, bicycle riding and hiking. I love sport and could not imagine my life with ought it!!!
*COMMUNITY: I am not only physically active, but I'm also active in my community. I graduated from high school in November 2011 and have decided to take a gap year in 2012 in my gap year I aim to make a change in my community. I live in a small mining village the areas outside of the village are very rural, poverty stricken areas. The people here struggle profusely and I really aim to relieve some of their daily hardships. I have already started to help by collecting old clothes from my friends and other people who are willing to help and donating it to a children's home. In the community . The home is run by one woman who looks after many kids who's parents are unable to care for them due to extreme poverty or HIV and Aids. I am also currently planning a community cleanup with one of the rural middle schools, where we aim to motivate the grade 6 and 7 learners to each full up a bag with rubbish, every child who does so will receive a goody bag full of school supplies, I hope that by doing so we will not only be making learning easier for these kids, but also educate them on the importance of stopping pollution and the dangers it holds for the environment ,thus acting locally with globally in mind. Another cause I am passionate about is to help stop Rhino poaching. As u all probably know Rhino poaching has become a huge problem in South Africa and currently a Rhino is killed every 20 hours in SA!!AND FOR WHAT?? A myth that says a Rhino horn has some kind of medicinal properties?? This is just another case of people not being educated on the fact that Rhino horn has NO medicinal properties! But that it is merely a lump of calcium and keratin !!its like chewing at your hair and nails thinking that your fever will go away!!! Ridiculous! If you feel the same way I do about this go to www.wildsideSA.co.za to find out how u can help stop these unnecessary murders!!
*FUTURE PLANS: After my gap year I plan to study zoology and Biochemistry driven by my intense love for animals. After my study's I want to specialize in big carnivores such as lion and leopard but more specifically The African wild dog because they are so extremely endangered, I want to do research that will help save the species and find ways that humans and wild dog can live peacefully side by side.
*WHY I WANT TO BE APART OF THE PANGAEA PROGRAM: I realize how important it is to conserve our natural resources and the few truly wild places left on earth in order for mankind to continue living on mother earth!! We really need to stop being greedy! I am very determine to make a difference in our society's and to educate people about global warming because I believe if we all work together we can stop it! And at the same time stop the loss of species and habitats and all in all make the world a better place to live I believe that the Pangaea program is a great program to help achieve this because it empowers young people to act against global warming and other environmental problems and as we are the future of this planet it is helping to create a much greener future generation! And I want to be a active part of the change!!!
*MY AFRICAN DREAM! I wish to go on the Africa expedition because I have a great love for Africa! And I am very keen to explore other part of it. I have a very big, personal dream to, one day, backpack around Africa!! To raise awareness for its wonderful but BRITTLE biodiversity in order to stop "crimes against nature" such as poaching for ivory, illegal hunting and trading in bush meat and also living animals. Also on this mission of mine I want to help educate the people of Africa on how great and important their land is and that they should start to protect and take pride in the jewel of a continent they have been placed on, teaching them to give back what they take. like for example planting trees. Because with ought their help our efforts will be in vain! I believe going on this expedition will provide me with the knowledge I need to fore full this dream of mine.
If u can dream it u can do it!
Thank u so much for your time!!:) Have a nice day
