Description
Hi! My name is Matthew. I am half Dutch and half Swiss, and I was born in England. I grew up with languages and traveling since I was young. When I was six, my family and I travelled around the world for six months. Three years later we went on another backpack trip for one whole school year. I love discovering new places and making friends around the world. Unfortunately, I have seen quite some sad places and people on the way too. I speak Swiss German, German, Dutch and English very well. French I learned in school and with star cook Sarah Wiener in France. I learned Spanish in Ecuador and have classes in school now. I also have Latin and Chinese (Mandarin) lessons in school. I enjoy web design, arts, reading and new challenges in general. I ski, swim and take long hikes, but I am not exactly a great sportsman. I like snorkeling and was lucky enough to snorkel in great places like the Galapagos, Fiji and Hawaii.
When we returned from the first trip I just turned seven and was determined to ‘save the world’, so I joined WWF. I have done fundraising projects to protect endangered animals and I have done projects to give poor children a better life. We mainly baked cookies, those sold really well in Switzerland! The record was SFR 1’000.00 in 30 minutes (!!), it was outside a supermarket, that was a few days after the Tsunami in South East Asia. The baking took a bit longer. The people almost pushed us over and there was money everywhere…
I am interested in renewable energies and like to be part of making a change by actively working on a better world for people and the nature. People shall be made well aware of their choices, so they can make them in a responsible way. Good information assures good choices and a better world.
