It's about time I updated this! My name is Carla, I'm 19 and I live in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. I attend the University of Cape Town and I'm in my first year of studying a bachelor of arts degree majoring in Environmental Geographical Science, and Philosophy (somewhat strange combo, I know:). I’m also studying Xhosa here, an indigenous South African language and I speak Afrikaans as well (another South African language). I love to surf most of all! The ocean is a special place for me and I think my connection to it has helped to spur my environmental concerns. My other interests include reading, travel, music, hiking, sewing, cooking for friends, art and working with people with disabilities. I am so excited to have been selected for the Kamchatka training camp and look forward to meeting you other 15! The YEP project really does attract some amazing people and I feel so priviledged to get to meet some of you:)
